These Driver Terms (the Driver Terms) form an agreement between you and Zylo Technologies (Pty) Ltd (Zylo, we, usor our) when you register for, access or use the Zylo Driver platform.
By creating a driver account, going online, accepting trip requests or otherwise using the Zylo Driver platform, you agree to these Driver Terms and the policies expressly incorporated into them. If you do not agree, you should not use the Zylo Driver platform.
These Driver Terms apply alongside rights and obligations under South African law. Nothing in them excludes or limits a right or obligation that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
1. Joining Zylo
1.1 Your relationship with Zylo
Zylo operates a technology platform that connects riders with independent drivers who provide transport services. As a driver, you decide when to go online and whether to accept individual trip requests, subject to these Driver Terms, applicable law and the service standards required to remain on the platform.
Nothing in these Driver Terms is intended to create an employment relationship where the law does not recognise one. Your legal status is determined by the facts, these Driver Terms and applicable law.
1.2 Driver eligibility
You must at all times be legally entitled to provide the transport services you perform through Zylo. This includes holding a valid driving licence and all licences, permits, professional driving authorisations, registrations and other approvals required by law for the services you provide.
You must provide accurate information during onboarding and promptly update information or documents that change, expire or become invalid. Zylo may verify identity, licence, permit, vehicle and other eligibility information before and during your use of the platform.
1.3 Vehicle requirements
The vehicle you use on Zylo must meet the requirements for the relevant Zylo category, be legally registered and licensed, be roadworthy and safe, and have any insurance or other cover required by law. You must keep vehicle information in the app accurate and use only a vehicle approved on your driver account.
1.4 Your driver account
Your driver account is personal to you. You must keep your login and verification information secure and must not lend, sell, transfer or share access to your account. Another person may not complete trips using your identity or driver account.
Your profile photo, vehicle details and other rider-facing information must accurately match the person and vehicle completing the trip.
2. Driving & trips
2.1 Going online and trip requests
When you go online, Zylo may send you trip requests based on factors such as your location, vehicle category, rider demand, service availability and platform rules. You may accept or decline individual requests, but your overall use of the platform remains subject to Zylo's published reliability and service standards.
2.2 Driver reliability standards
To remain in good standing on Zylo, drivers are expected to maintain an acceptance rate of at least 50%, a cancellation rate of no more than 17%, and an average rider rating of at least 4.70.
Zylo may review a driver account that falls below these standards and may provide notices, education, temporary restrictions or other proportionate action. Serious safety, fraud or misconduct concerns may require immediate action.
2.3 Pickup and trip flow
After accepting a trip, you must make reasonable efforts to travel to the pickup point safely and without unnecessary delay. You must use the correct arrival flow in the Driver app and must not falsely indicate that you have arrived.
Where Ride PIN is enabled, you must obtain and correctly enter the rider's PIN before starting the trip. You must not begin a PIN-protected trip without successful PIN verification.
2.4 During the trip
You must transport the rider safely, follow applicable road laws, use reasonable routes, respect lawful rider requests and complete approved stops in accordance with the app. You must not deliberately extend, manipulate or misrepresent a trip to increase the fare or your earnings.
You must end the trip in the Driver app only when the transport service has genuinely ended, except where a safety or technical issue requires another lawful and reasonable course of action.
2.5 Cancellations
You may cancel a trip where reasonably necessary, including for genuine safety, rider conduct, vehicle or operational reasons. Avoidable or repeated cancellations may affect your reliability metrics and account standing.
You must not pressure a rider to cancel a trip so that you can avoid a driver cancellation or platform rule.
2.6 Waiting and stops
The Driver app shows the applicable waiting rules at pickup and at stops. You must use the in-app waiting flow accurately and must not manipulate arrival, waiting or stop times to create charges that are not properly due.
3. Earnings & payouts
3.1 Driver earnings
The Driver app shows the fare and earnings information available for a trip. Your earnings may include the trip fare, eligible promotions, adjustments and tips, less Zylo's applicable commission, service fee and other authorised deductions.
Trip amounts may be corrected where there is a verified pricing error, duplicate payment, fraud, refund, chargeback, trip adjustment or other legitimate reason permitted by law and these Driver Terms.
3.2 Zylo commission and service fee
Zylo charges a 7% commission and a 3% service fee on applicable trip earnings, for a combined platform deduction of 10%, subject to any clearly disclosed promotion, incentive or lawful adjustment that changes the amount for a particular trip or period.
3.3 Cash trips
On an eligible cash trip, the rider pays the applicable rider amount directly to you. Zylo's commission, service fee and any other amount properly due to Zylo remain payable and are reflected through your driver wallet or earnings records.
Where a rider promotion reduces the cash amount paid by the rider, Zylo applies the qualifying promotional difference to the driver's earnings in accordance with the promotion shown in the Driver app.
3.4 Tips
Tips are voluntary and 100% of a rider tip is for the driver, subject only to any deduction required by law.
3.5 Promotions and incentives
Zylo provides driver promotions and incentives subject to the eligibility, timing, trip, tier or other conditions shown with the relevant offer. Promotional earnings are applied according to those conditions and may be withheld or corrected where there is verified fraud, abuse or an obvious processing error.
3.6 Pending and available earnings
Earnings from a completed trip remain pending for 48 hours before becoming available, subject to any investigation, adjustment, refund, fraud review, payment reversal or other lawful hold affecting that trip.
3.7 Weekly payouts and withdrawals
Zylo processes the weekly payout cycle from Monday at 00:00. Withdrawals are disabled from Sunday at 23:30 while the weekly payout process begins.
Available earnings are paid to the verified payout details on your driver account, subject to banking and payment-processing times. You are responsible for keeping your payout details accurate.
3.8 Instant withdrawals
Eligible drivers can request an instant withdrawal from available earnings. The Driver app shows the applicable fee and any limits before you confirm the withdrawal. An instant withdrawal is subject to payment-provider availability, verification and fraud controls.
3.9 Driver wallet amounts owed to Zylo
Amounts you owe Zylo, including platform fees arising from cash trips or other valid adjustments, are reflected in your driver wallet. If an amount owed remains unpaid or reaches an applicable account limit, Zylo may restrict your ability to go online or receive trips until the balance is reduced or settled. The Driver app shows the applicable balance and account status.
4. Standards & safety
4.1 Driver conduct
You must treat riders, passengers, Zylo personnel and other users respectfully. Violence, threats, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, sexual misconduct, unlawful activity, deliberate property damage and other unsafe or abusive conduct are prohibited.
You must follow Zylo's Community Guidelines and must not use rider information for any purpose unrelated to the trip, legitimate safety needs or lawful support processes.
4.2 Safe driving
You must comply with road traffic laws, drive with due care, ensure required seatbelts and safety equipment are available, and keep your vehicle in a safe and roadworthy condition. You must not drive while impaired by alcohol, drugs, medication, fatigue or another condition that makes driving unsafe.
4.3 Safety tools and incident reporting
Zylo provides safety tools including Ride PIN, trusted contacts, live trip sharing, Safety Zones, emergency support features and trip audio recording. You must use safety tools honestly and must not disable, manipulate or misuse them to conceal improper conduct.
Serious collisions, safety incidents, threats, criminal conduct and other material incidents connected to a Zylo trip must be reported through the available support or safety channels as soon as reasonably possible.
4.4 Trip audio recording
Zylo's trip audio recording feature supports rider and driver safety. Information relating to recordings is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy, applicable law and Zylo's safety processes. You must not attempt to obtain or misuse another person's protected recording outside authorised processes.
4.5 Ratings and service quality
Riders can rate completed trips and provide feedback. Zylo may consider ratings, complaint patterns, trip records and verified incidents when assessing service quality and account standing. You must not manipulate ratings, create false trips or pressure a rider to provide a particular rating.
4.6 Lost property
If property is left in your vehicle, you must take reasonable care of it and cooperate with Zylo Support and the rider to arrange a safe return. You must not withhold a rider's property to demand an unauthorised payment.
5. Account & access
5.1 Verification and document validity
Zylo may periodically verify your identity, eligibility, vehicle, licence, permit and other documents. Your ability to go online may be restricted where a required document expires, verification fails or information no longer meets platform or legal requirements.
5.2 Fraud and platform misuse
You must not create fake or collusive trips, manipulate GPS or location information, falsify documents, misuse rider accounts, interfere with platform systems, abuse promotions, arrange payment fraud or otherwise attempt to obtain earnings or platform benefits dishonestly.
5.3 Suspension, restriction or deactivation
Zylo may investigate and, where reasonably justified, restrict, suspend or deactivate a driver account for safety concerns, fraud, failed verification, expired or invalid documents, serious or repeated service-standard failures, unlawful conduct, material breaches of these Driver Terms or legal and regulatory requirements.
Immediate restrictions may be applied where reasonably necessary to protect riders, drivers, the public, payment systems or the platform while a serious issue is investigated.
5.4 Review of account decisions
Where appropriate, Zylo may request information from you before or after an account decision. You may use the available support channels to provide relevant information or request review of an account action. The availability and scope of a review may depend on the nature of the issue and applicable law.
5.5 Leaving Zylo
You may stop using the Driver platform and request closure of your driver account. Closing an account does not remove amounts, obligations, investigations or lawful record-retention duties that arose before closure.
6. Support & disputes
6.1 Driver support
You can use Zylo's support channels for trip, earnings, payout, rider, account, document or safety matters. Zylo may ask for information reasonably needed to investigate and resolve the issue.
6.2 Earnings and trip reviews
If you dispute an earning, fee, adjustment, refund or trip record, Zylo may review relevant trip, payment, location, communication and platform records. Where an amount is shown to be incorrect, Zylo may make the appropriate correction.
6.3 Legal and regulatory cooperation
You must reasonably cooperate with lawful requests arising from serious safety incidents, insurance matters, regulatory enquiries, court processes or law-enforcement investigations to the extent required by law.
7. Platform & legal terms
7.1 Legal compliance
You are responsible for complying with the laws and regulatory requirements that apply to the transport services you provide, including road traffic, licensing, permit, vehicle, insurance, tax and record-keeping obligations applicable to you.
7.2 Tax
You are responsible for your own tax obligations arising from your driver earnings, except to the extent that Zylo is required by law to report, deduct, withhold or account for an amount.
7.3 Intellectual property
The Zylo name, logos, software, designs, Driver app, website, content and platform materials are owned by or licensed to Zylo and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Zylo grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the platform for its intended driver purpose while your account remains authorised.
You may not copy, reverse engineer, scrape, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell or commercially exploit protected Zylo systems or content except where Zylo or applicable law expressly permits it.
7.4 Third-party services
The Driver platform uses or interacts with third-party services such as payment processors, banking providers, map and location services, mobile operating systems and communications providers. Their own terms may apply to services that you use directly.
7.5 Platform availability and changes
Zylo aims to keep the Driver platform reliable, but uninterrupted or error-free access cannot be guaranteed. Maintenance, connectivity, device issues, third-party services, emergencies or other circumstances may affect availability.
Zylo may update platform features, pricing structures, reliability standards, safety processes and operational rules. Material changes affecting your contractual rights or obligations are communicated where required by law.
7.6 Responsibility and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Zylo is not responsible for losses that are indirect, unforeseeable or not caused by a breach of an obligation for which Zylo is legally responsible. Nothing in these Driver Terms excludes or limits liability where South African law does not permit that exclusion or limitation.
You remain responsible for your own driving conduct, vehicle operation and compliance with obligations that the law places on you as the person providing the transport service.
7.7 Your responsibility for misuse
You are responsible for losses or claims caused by your unlawful use of Zylo, your material breach of these Driver Terms or your infringement of another person's rights, to the extent that the law permits responsibility to be placed on you.
7.8 Privacy
Zylo processes personal information in accordance with applicable data protection law. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we process it, how it may be shared and the rights available to you. Our Privacy Policy is available at zylogo.app/privacy.
7.9 Changes to these Driver Terms
Zylo may update these Driver Terms to reflect changes in law, regulation, safety requirements, driver services or operation of the platform. The current version is published on this page with its updated date. Where a change is material, Zylo takes reasonable steps to bring it to your attention where required.
7.10 Governing law
These Driver Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. You may use Zylo's support channels to try to resolve an issue directly with us first, but this does not prevent you from exercising rights available through a court, regulator, statutory body or other lawful process.
7.11 General
If a provision of these Driver Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A delay by Zylo in enforcing a right does not automatically mean that the right has been waived.
